YOU WOKE UP!

Even if you don’t have the love of a significant other or amity amongst your neighbors, always be mindful to

LOVE YOURSELF!

If it’s chocolate you crave, there may still be some on sale from Halloween. Treat yourself, even if someone else blessed you with milk chocolatey goodness because one thing for certain is

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE!!!

And whether you find yourself in the arms of Mr./Ms. Right or Mr./Ms. Right Now, remember

My Only Sunshine (Fiction)

They’d been dating since 2016 and their lustrum of love and affection had become all she thought about. It all started as a passionate idyll after Diane’s ugly divorce but she and Charlie had become the hottest couple in town. He’d always shown great concern for her welfare, making sure she felt loved, safe and secure. Valentine’s Day was here and Diane hoped this was the year Charlie would take her from being Miss to Mrs.

As they sat enjoying dinner, surrounded by five dozen roses and romantic music playing on the Echo Dot, Diane was trying hard to contain her nervous excitement. Both their hearts began beating fast as dessert arrived. It was Diane’s favorite white chocolate cake topped with a beautiful shiny gift box. Is this the moment she’s dreamed of? Is her fantasy becoming reality?

Diane was almost in shock as she smiled, laughed and cried a little opening her Valentine’s latest surprise. Suddenly the smile turned into a frown of disappointment seeing nothing but a diamond sunburst necklace. As she looked to Charlie with confusion, there he was down on one knee declaring Diane the light of his life; his ray of sunshine on a rainy day; a brilliant woman perfectly flawed, as he looked at her with an 18K white gold 5 Carat diamond ring in hand and asked, “Will you be my forever love?”

Baked Mac & Cheese

Today’s JusJoJan makes me think of the delicious baked macaroni and cheese I made Christmas Day. Every year I like to use a different selection of cheese and my son always declares, “this one was your best, mom!”

My selection this holiday was:

Extra Sharp Wisconsin Cheddar
Parmesan
Asiago
Romano
Feta

Though I was tempted to make another one just to show you all (that would’ve been my excuse), I decided to instead find a picture that looks damn close. Now that’s willpower!

WINNING!!!

Even with the ease of shopping right at my fingertips, during this past holiday season, I was remiss in fulfilling my gift list.

Last year (I say that just for effect) I kept delaying the purchase of my son’s Christmas present because honestly, 1) I wasn’t quite sure the best option and 2) it was all too possible he may already have bought whatever he mentioned was of interest to him. I put way too much pressure on myself to choose wisely when I can rest assured he’ll always appreciate whatever I give him. My son was raised to understand a present of any kind is nothing to balk at, so he knows better than to sneer at a gift or its giver.

Anyway, while he was home my son and I talked much about President Obama and we also watched Michelle Obama’s Netflix special Becoming. He mentioned wanting to read both their latest works, along with that of his favorite soccer coach, Arsène Wenger. That bit of information helped me determine what to order, thankful for Amazon’s two-day delivery.

Since A Promised Land and Becoming are on my list of reads too, I was able to get a little treat for myself, as well. I need something riveting to keep my attention until I’m free to go galavanting through the city again.
