Payback is a (You Know What)

The police are questioning every employee hoping at least one of them can share details about the bank robbery. Meanwhile, forensic experts are combing the property for any criminal evidence that may help them identify the perpetrators but no matter how sanguine the investigators appear, it doesn’t look promising. The bank manager is a pompous jerk so it really could’ve been any of the many customers or former employees he’s offended. Right now he’s sitting in his office looking stoic but everyone knows he’s scared. He must be trying to figure out how to spin this to the execs, who were standing about a yard from his office door. It’s funny to watch him cower at the mere sight of them. For ten years it’s been my dream to watch him get fired for his incompetence and today my wait may be over. My plan is working like a charm!

A One Night Stand

Star shoots across the purple sky
A midnight sigh,
Sunrise, sunsets
With no regrets.
This night’s just one to dispose of
Not turn to love,
This ain’t for show
You come, you go.
That’s it for now, I’m satisfied
With that joyride,
You did me right
Now say goodnight.

History in the Making

PERSPECTIVE: the FIRST Latina US Supreme Court Justice, a Bronx native and Yale graduate nominated in 2009 by the FIRST African-American US President, administers the oath of office to the FIRST African/Asian-American & FIRST female US Vice President, an Oakland native and Howard University graduate, using a Bible belonging to the FIRST African-American US Supreme Court Justice (1967), a Baltimore native & CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST who graduated from Howard Law, the OLDEST Historically Black College/University (HBCU) law school.

Political pundits will reflect on this day for years to come. I’m feeling good!

It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life for me, ooh
And I’m feeling good

Today is a Good Day!

dee8bf3e4969b4c3943a84616857e231

Woke up this morning, smile on my face
And I knew today would be a good day.
Pulled myself up, thought hmmm, what’s first?
A little prayer, yes, that’s what I’ll say.

My mind tried to fight me,
Thoughts raced thru my head,
At odds, sluggish and tired
Maybe I should go back to bed?

Pulled myself together
Ate well so it lasts
Stepped outside, sunshine
Saw a friend, had a blast.

Got in my car, drove to work
It’s payday and I’m inspired
Sudden boost of energy
Body no longer tired.

Folks complaining, whatever the reason
Most times there doesn’t have to be one
They came to me, started whining and nagging
Fight or flight, call it quits, it’s over, I’m done.

Now I’m writing just to clear my mind.
Staying peaceful takes will, patience and time
Write a new post for today’s word prompt?
You’re kidding, they really want me to rhyme!!!

HEHEHEHE!
