Think Differently

If everyone is thinking alike, then no one is thinking.

The Devil Is Defeated

Heavy burdens beyond control

That’s the devil trying to steal

Kill and destroy, attack with zeal

Leaving a giant gaping hole

Wreaking havoc deep in your soul

Tiny pieces left to rebuild

To find a way you must be willed

Just spread your wings, take flight and soar

Light of your life shines bright once more

No dreams deferred or unfulfilled

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
‭‭— John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Words Are Powerful

Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.” -Yehuda Berg

This bel-esprit young lady is my new crush! At only 23 years old, Amanda Gorman is the first National Youth Poet Laureate and the youngest to speak at a Presidential Inauguration. “The Hill We Climb” shows why Miss Gorman is so deserving of that honor. In it she captured the climate of our country with words so perfect for the occasion, causing reflection on periods of division yet bringing hope for the future. I’m sharing this video because I just can’t admire Miss Gorman enough but also because she is an inspirational poet who set the bar high for aspiring poets, in style and sentiment.

Nothing I have in my queue compares to Amanda Gorman’s work, and I’m okay with that. Her colorful personality adds such flair to her words, motivating me to sharpen my mind and show more respect for the written word.

The Joys of Being Still

Sorting through my old posts brought me back here (March 21, 2019) and it’s a pretty good fit for today’s Three Things Challenge.

This was written long ago when we could still socialize without fear of death from a virus or hostile takeover. Being in the doldrums shortly prior, it was difficult to feel inspired to do much of anything. Just after having emerged from a place of despair, some friends invited me to a paint & sip event that turned out to be so much of what I needed at the time; something enjoyable, not stressful.

It feels so good to be back with my blog community! But I must say, taking the break I did was much needed. I think “overdue” is a more accurate term…
