So much joy returned to my home the moment my son walked through the door. I couldn’t have asked for a better present this holiday season. He hasn’t just been great company; he’s been my personal chef. My son has cooked every day this week and all of his meals are healthy and centre on plant-based foods. That’ll probably continue up until Christmas Day, when I temporarily reclaim my kitchen to create a traditional spread with all the fixins.
There is one perplexing thing that’s occurred this visit and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. For more than half his life my son has challenged me in Scrabble and the other day he defeated me for his first win EVER! I trust I’ll continue to hear about this victory long after he leaves. I don’t think my son would use such guile against me but maybe….just maybe….his good cooking was all a ploy to get me to let my guard down. Hmm!

Our usual rule of the house is whoever cooks doesn’t clean up. I usually wash up as I go, so there’s not much left to do after we’ve finished eating.

What an interesting game strategy. I wonder if he’ll go for that lol. I created a meme showing the difference in the kitchen when I cook vs my son. I feel like he uses every pot, pan, cooking utensil and serving plate available and evidence of his process is usually found on the kitchen counters. No complaints because every dish has been worth it and he cleans too.

We enjoy a game of scrabble, but don’t go for a winner, more of a best combined score.
Lucky your lad loves to cook. One of my foster boys wanted to be a chef so I let him loose in the kitchen. He used a lot of pans, but didn’t burn anything!
