Proud Auntie Moment

Five students. Five stories. One fight for their future. Grand Army premieres October 16 on Netflix. #WEAREGRANDARMY

I’m so overjoyed right now and just feel the need….scratch that….a strong desire to share this with all who decide to click on my blog post. Well right now, that’s you!

On Friday, October 16 Netflix will air their new series Grand Army, a story about “five students at the largest public high school in Brooklyn who take on a chaotic world, as they fight to succeed, survive, break free and seize the future.”1 I hope you take a few minutes to view the trailer I shared below and are intrigued enough to add Grand Army to your [quarantine] watch list. Oh and yeah, please give a moment of special attention to the character Tor, played by my talented niece.

I’ve been longing to witness Crystal’s debut but just hadn’t imagined it would be on the Netflix stage. As a little girl, Crystal’s highly imaginative personality was evident to family and we loved seeing her blossom into a young adult with great creative insight. I’ve referred to my niece as “dramatic” many times because of her flair for such. She acted in local plays growing up but at the time I thought her theatrical interest was just a hobby. Over the years I’ve witnessed her commitment to the art in pursuit of becoming a professional. That curious little girl has become a perspicacious businesswoman because of her hard work, vibrant personality and natural talent and is humbly beginning to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Bravo Crystal aka Tor!

You know, writing about myself has always been a challenge. It's not that I'm unsure of who I am but rather I like people to discover me on their own. I will tell you this much - I'M REAL! I guess that's all you need to know for a first approach; stick around and you'll understand the power behind that statement. What I do is another story! I embrace life hoping to live my purpose as a mother, daughter, sister, confidante and friend; I laugh, cry, and support; I admire, like and love; I listen, read and write. Most importantly, I have faith and thank God for all of me. My intent is to inspire others using my gifts and "Don't Forget the Half" reminds me to cast nothing aside. Want to know more? Discover along with me as I live my life out loud.
