A few weeks ago I traveled to the Dominican Republic for a friend’s wedding. I’d heard so many things about this popular “romantic getaway” destination, but turns out it’s a great vacation for a loving mother and son duo too.
We stayed at a beautiful all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana and it was worth every penny. As much as I love eating, I can easily say the buffets were where I got most of my return on investment. Well, there and the bar – best Pina Coladas I’ve ever had! I was truly in paradise.
I’ve always felt a little indifferent about beach weddings because the thought of dressing up to spend time on a beach seemed oxymoronic to me. I have to admit this experience changed my mind and my life because everything about the wedding was absolutely beautiful. Not only did the beach set the stage for breathtaking backdrops both live and in pictures, but such an intimate venue shared with a small gathering of family and friends made this ceremonial occasion even more special.
I would definitely visit Punta Cana again, but preferably when I have more time to venture out on some of their thrill-seeking excursions. Me in an ATV or zip lining ought to make for an interesting story (after recovery).

Yes, it sure was. Wish I could’ve stayed there thru our winter at home.

That does look lovely. A sight for winter-weary eyes. 🙂
